Day 5 – Tenerife Trip May 2026

Today was our long-awaited celebration beach day at Las Teresitas — and luckily, we were treated to the best weather of the entire trip. ¡Hurray! Nestled beneath the dramatic mountains of the Anaga Rural Park and lined with golden sand imported from the Sahara Desert, Las Teresitas felt very different to the black volcanic beaches we had explored earlier in the week. The calm, shallow waters created the perfect setting for a day of sunshine, laughter and unforgettable memories together. Pupils spent the day splashing in the sea, snorkelling and trying to spot the tiny fish darting beneath the water.

However, perhaps the best part of the day was watching the whole group work together to create their own giant system of wells and dams in the sand. Pupils showed incredible teamwork, dedication and determination as they dug, carried water and problem-solved together. There were huge cheers of celebration as the tide gradually came in and their hard work was rewarded, with water flowing successfully through their carefully constructed channels.

Lunch was a picnic on the beach, followed by classic seaside games and a highly competitive girls’ football match after lunch. Spirits were high throughout the day, and all of the teachers commented on what a pleasure it was to watch the children savour every moment of their time together in the sunshine. Even passers-by stopped to comment on how much fun the group looked like they were having.

Back at the hotel, pupils packed suitcases and carefully stowed away the gifts and souvenirs collected throughout the week before enjoying our final dinner together. Following room inspections — where pupils absolutely smashed their organisation and tidiness goals, taking pride in their spaces and supporting one another brilliantly — everyone was treated to an extra dessert or ice cream, which went down a treat!

Tomorrow will be a full and emotional final day. We will spend the morning back at our partner school, CEIP Maximiliano Gil, alongside our Spanish peers before bidding farewell to Tenerife and catching our evening flight back to London — our hearts full and eager to share everything we have experienced and enjoyed with our families and friends back home.
