Erasmus+ Partnerships Update. More news can be found on the News Archives section of our website.

Making new friends

Viridis has begun a new relationship with schools in Tenerife, Portugal and Poland.

Over the next two years we will be working with our international colleagues to help improve language learning within the partnership. There will be a focus on using CLIL (Content Integrated Language Learning). This methodology centres on learning a foreign language through other areas of the school curriculum and improving comprehension. Our new partner schools are:

Although each school has been allocated a partner as above, there will be opportunities for teachers and pupils to communicate with all three partner schools. We have also received funding to support visits to our partners when travel restrictions are eased.

Improving communication and comprehension in Spanish

Our year 4 Viridis children paired up with our Polish partners and sent them a video of themselves giving information about their name, age and something they like. Everyone was eager to present their best Spanish on film and just as eager to listen to what their Polish partners had to say in Spanish and check that they had understood correctly.

Their next activity will launch the theme of ‘Food and Drink’ for this academic year. They have been learning their food vocabulary and the focus on the next video will be to ask their partner friends which items they like to eat and drink at Christmas.
