19 Nov YEAR 5 GARDENING WORKSHOP
The milder, sunnier weather this week has ensured that our children reap the maximum benefits of our outside classroom in the garden. Year 5 have been exploring flax, a plant used to make linen. The children have been breaking, scutching and heckling the flax to remove its fibres. They then spun and twisted the fibres on a spindle to make yarn. This will be turned into linen to make a bandage for our Egyptian cat mummy!
